Primer Availability 2022 - While most ammunition is slowly making its way back onto store shelves, primers haven't really appeared in any meaningful numbers since before that time. The two biggest players in the market, Olin (Winchester) and Vista Kunze (Remington, CCI and Federal) have ramped up their production and more production is going into heavy-duty rifles.
It seems like a good time to add a third party and a lot more. Good news: Investors are doing just that, starting a new company in the Texas capital that is dedicated to making primer and truck.

This new company doesn't look like Vaporware. It's very real and they have money behind it. With $100 million in funding, Expansion Industries has acquired space and is recruiting workers for production lines it plans to open later this year. In fact, they are holding a job fair for local workers at the end of this month.

The expansion purchased the former Lone Star Army Ammunition Plant located 12 miles west of Texarkana, Texas, which produced everything for the military from World War II through the Vietnam War.

Expansion Industries, an ammunition manufacturer with corporate offices outside Carrollton, Texas, is preparing to open a manufacturing facility here.

They purchased the main line of the former Lone Star Army Ammunition Plant and have begun construction on the east campus of the Texas Americas Center, preparing the site for use.
Recently, they also launched a recruitment drive, advertising the upcoming job opening on January 29.
The center will specialize in the production of primers for the small arms industry, an important part of arms production.
"We've put $100 million into the facility so far," said Richard A. Simson, owner of Expansion Industries. "It's all about supply and demand. There is a huge demand for this product in the industry and now, for various reasons, the supply chain is ending. So we are doing our part to solve this problem. We are ready to play the role."

Smissen describes the new facility as state-of-the-art, with a high level of automation. He said the site of the former Lone Star Army Ammunition Plant is unique to his project.
