Arashi is huge – based on pictures available online, the shoulder-fired weapon appears to be about two feet tall, or two feet. It has an unusual quad shape at the end of the barrel, which somewhat reduces the impact. And the effect will be great.

Arashi is circled with a diameter of 20 mm, maybe 20x102 mm, which is a very large circle. Rather than targeting single soldiers, the 20x102mm is more suitable for anti-materiel work, against lightly armored vehicles or against buildings, although it is rarely a direct shooter.

In the United States, the 20x102mm round is used in the M61 Vulcan, a 6-barreled rotary cannon introduced after World War II, but for jet aircraft, not individual soldiers. Arash has an unusual looking pistol grip and stock. The weapon actually rests on the gunner's shoulder, just like a rocket-propelled grenade launcher. Although the Arash is somewhat similar to a bullpup configuration (the magazine is mounted behind the trigger assembly), it is further back, actually on the back of the gun. Because of these poor ergonomics, reloading can be difficult.

The site is also amazingly designed. From a normal position, it can be very difficult to get a good wide view because the scope mount is too high. Arash could be manned by two-man motorcycle teams, which would solve the usual shooting problem, although shooting from the back of a motorcycle would be difficult.

In keeping with Iran's tradition of foreign weapons technology, the Arashi appears to be installing a Barrett-derived ballistic computer. This neat device attaches directly to the scope and can take into account factors such as atmospheric pressure and temperature to help shooters find targeted shots.

This video shows how much power Arash has and how tough the scene is. Like other Iranian weapons systems, the Arashi may be more smoke and mirrors than actual munitions.
